Riyadh is a city that comes alive after dark. The desert heat means the day belongs to air conditioning and the evening belongs to everyone else, and from late October the city leans into that harder than anywhere else in the region.
Riyadh Season, the entertainment mega-festival that takes over the capital each autumn and winter, returns for its seventh edition on Wednesday, October 21, with a 10-week program announced by General Entertainment Authority chairman Turki Alalshikh.
Here's what's coming, and what a night in Riyadh looks like during it.

Riyadh, Saudi Arabia at Night
What's Confirmed for 2026
The seventh edition runs a 10-week program built around championships, concerts, performances, and entertainment experiences. Alalshikh announced the lineup in a promotional video previewing the season's sporting, entertainment, and arts events.
Sport headlines the season. The announced lineup includes world-class boxing and wrestling matches, UFC bouts, and the Six Kings Slam tennis tournament. Riyadh has spent the last few years buying its way into the calendar of major combat sports and tennis exhibitions, and this edition continues that.
Beyond the arena: concerts, theatrical and comedy performances, and a programme of events built for children and families.
The Zones
Riyadh Season works as a set of separate ticketed destinations scattered across the city rather than one venue. Three have been named for this edition.
Boulevard World
The biggest draw and the one to pick if you only have a single evening. Boulevard World is built as a walkable set of country pavilions, each with its own architecture, food, and shopping, so you cross from one culture to the next over the course of a night.
In recent editions it has run to more than twenty country zones alongside dozens of rides and hundreds of restaurants, and it has consistently been the most visited part of the season. It returns as a principal zone for 2026, with the specific pavilion lineup announced closer to opening.

Boulevard City
The original zone, launched with the first Riyadh Season in 2019, and the place where the concerts and the biggest live shows happen. It opens this edition with new content. If you want the version of Riyadh nights that involves a crowd, a stage, and a fountain show, this is it.
Wonder Garden
The rides zone for this edition, aimed at families and anyone who wants the funfair end of the season rather than the arena end.
What a Riyadh Night Looks Like
The rhythm of the season is worth understanding before you plan around it, because it runs on a schedule that will feel late to most visitors.
Season zones typically open in the late afternoon, around 4pm, and run past midnight. That is not a quirk. It reflects how Riyadh lives: the heat pushes social life into the evening, restaurants fill late, and families are out with children at hours that would be unusual in Europe or North America.
The practical version: sleep in, do indoor sights or a museum in the afternoon, eat around 8 or 9, and head to a zone from there. Trying to do Riyadh Season on a 9-to-5 body clock means arriving as things open and leaving before they get good.
Outside the season zones, the city's own night scene has expanded fast. Diriyah, the restored mud-brick district and UNESCO World Heritage site on the edge of the city, is at its best after dark when the walls are lit. Via Riyadh and the newer dining districts run late. Riyadh Boulevard's surrounding restaurant strips stay busy well past midnight.
Planning Notes
Zones are ticketed separately. Riyadh Season is not one pass. Each zone sells its own entry, and the big sporting events are priced independently again. Budget per night rather than per trip.
Book the marquee events early. The boxing, UFC, and Six Kings Slam dates are the ones that sell out and drive hotel pricing across the city on those weekends.
Full schedules land late. GEA tends to announce individual events and concert lineups in stages through the season rather than all at once, so check the official Riyadh Season channels close to your dates rather than booking flights around a rumoured act.
Weather is on your side. Late October through December is the comfortable window in Riyadh. This is exactly why the season runs when it does.
How It Got This Big
Riyadh Season launched in 2019 under the General Entertainment Authority as part of the country's broader push to build a domestic entertainment industry and diversify the economy away from oil. The first edition's opening parade drew a reported 600,000-plus people to the Boulevard zone.
It was cancelled in 2020 and 2021 during the pandemic, then returned at a larger scale. Boulevard World was added in 2022 and became the anchor attraction. Recent editions have reported visitor numbers in the millions, and the season now functions as the single biggest driver of leisure tourism to the Saudi capital.
It has also drawn criticism, largely around the use of high-profile sport and entertainment to reshape the country's international image. Worth knowing as context for what you're attending.
Practical Notes
- Entry: Saudi Arabia operates a tourist eVisa and visa-on-arrival system for eligible nationalities. Eligibility and fees change, so check the official Saudi portal rather than a third-party page.
- Getting around: Riyadh is spread out and the zones are far apart. Ride-hailing is the default, and journeys between zones take longer than the map suggests, especially on weekend nights.
- Dress: Rules have relaxed considerably in recent years, but modest dress remains the norm in public. Check current guidance before you pack.
- Travel advice: Check your own government's current advice for the region before booking, as guidance has changed more than once during 2026.
Staying Connected
Riyadh Season runs on apps: zone tickets, event entry, ride-hailing between venues that sit half an hour apart, and finding your group in a crowd of thousands. An eSIM gets you online the moment you land at King Khalid without a SIM counter queue.

Riyadh Season 2026 opens October 21 with ten weeks of boxing, UFC, the Six Kings Slam, concerts, comedy, and the return of Boulevard World. The zones open late afternoon and run past midnight, which is the correct way to experience a desert capital.
Book the marquee sporting nights early, budget per zone rather than per trip, and adjust your body clock before you arrive. Riyadh does not get going until the sun is down.
